QUEENS, N.Y. - For the third straight week, junior Tyneka Greene finished first for the Red Storm Cross Country team. At the annual St. John's Cross Country Fall Festival, Greene placed first overall with a top time of 14:08 in the 4K event, hosted by St. John's University at Cunningham Park in Queens, N.Y., on Sunday. The Red Storm placed second overall with a score of 42 points. Fordham University won the event with a score of 28 points. NYIT rounded out the top three with a score of 111 points. In addition to Greene, Sarah Sudbury and Pam Petruski also placed in the top-10 of 64 competitors. The pair ran as tandem-team as Sudbury finished sixth with a time of 14:56, and Petruski finished seventh with a time of 15:04. Freshman Lori Dougherty came in fourth for St. John's with a time of 15:39, and fellow freshman Shakira Best 18th with a time of 15:43. Sarah Fry, Rakibat Abiola, Kayla Regulski, Laura Walsh and Ashlee Payne finished in the top-30 finishing 19, 20, 22, 26, and 27, respectively.
The track and field mid-distance and sprinters also competed in the race. Up next the Red Storm will travel to Louisville, Ky., to compete in the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships on Oct. 26. St. John's Fall Festival Results |
