Ahlers Named BIG EAST Co-Rookie of the Week
 

 
Jamaica, N.Y.- Freshman middle hitter Jackie Ahlers (Stony Point, N.Y.) was named BIG EAST Co-Rookie of the Week for the week ending November 17, it was announced today. Ahlers led the Red Storm to a 2-0 record on the final weekend of the season with victories over Providence and Boston College. She recorded a combined 29 kills, 10 digs, seven blocks and hit .328 on the weekend.

In the match versus Providence, Ahlers, playing with an ankle sprain she suffered during practice, recorded 14 kills, seven digs and a season-high four block assists.

In the season finale versus Boston College, Ahlers tallied a match-high 15 kills, two solo blocks and one key block assist on match point to secure victory for the Red Storm.

For the season, Ahlers enjoyed the most successful freshman season in St. Johns history. She set the program record for kills in a single season by a freshman, recording a BIG EAST conference leading and team-high 512 kills. Her 512 kills place her second on the St. Johns all-time list for kills in a single season and 11th on the career kills list.
