Red Storm Volleyball Falls to Rutgers, 3-1
 

 
Jamaica, N.Y.- The St. Johns volleyball team fell to Rutgers University tonight, 3-0 (30-22, 30-28, 28-30, 30-28), in a match played at Alumni Hall. The Red Storm drop to 15-15 overall and 4-6 in the BIG EAST, while the Scarlet Knights improve to 16-9 overall and 5-5 in the BIG EAST.

Rutgers held the advantage up front out hitting the Red Storm .286-.170 and out blocking them 16-6. St. Johns held a slim advantage in digs (52-50) but it was not enough as the Scarlet Knights were able to pull out three of the four closely knit games.

Jackie Ahlers (Stony Point, N.Y.) recorded a match-high 21 kills to pace the Red Storm. Junior setter Robyn Kurasaki (Mililani, Hawaii) dished out 54 assists while senior Meaghan Creedon (Rohnert Park, Calif.) added 10 kills on 20 attempts.

Lauren Venarchiks tallied 19 kills to lead Rutgers. Pualani Tuyay dished out 41 assists while libero Dawn Christjaener recorded a match-high 17 digs.

The Red Storm return to action on Sunday, November 10 when they host Seton Hall at Alumni Hall. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. with a pre-game ceremony to honor seniors Sarah McCrary and Meaghan Creedon.
