Blacksburg, Va.--The St. John's volleyball team fell to Virginia Tech, 3-0 (30-27, 30-20, 30-28), in a match played at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Va. Virginia Tech held the advantage in hitting percentage (.189-.168) and digs (58-49) while St. John's was strong at the net holding 5-3 advantage in blocks. The Red Storm fall to 15-14 overall and 4-5 in the BIG EAST, while the Hokies improve to 17-9 overall and 7-2 in the BIG EAST.
Junior setter Robyn Kurasaki (Mililani, Hawaii)recorded a double-double to pace the Red Storm. She tallied a team-high 32 assists and 17 digs. Freshman Jackie Ahlers (Stony Point, N.Y.) recorded a match-high 16 kills, while freshman libero Shannon Engle (San Jose, Calif.) chipped in with 13 digs.
Ana Lang's 13 kills and 15 digs led the way for Virginia Tech. Melissa Markowski dished out 37 assists while Sarah Rodgers added 11 kills for the Hokies.
The Red Storm return to action on Friday, November 8 when they return home to host Rutgers. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
