St. Johns Assistant Volleyball Coach Mario Treibitch Selected as an Official for 2003 Special Olympics World Summer Games
 

 
Jamaica, N.Y.- St. Johns assistant volleyball coach Mario Treibitch has been selected as an official for the 2003 Special Olympics World Summer Games to be held in Dublin, Ireland. The games will feature over 7,000 participants from all over the world in a variety of events.

Treibitch concluded his third year as an assistant for St. Johns this past season and has nearly 25 years of prior coaching experience. Treibitch has coached both mens and womens national teams in the United States, Holland, Israel, Puerto Rico, Russia and France. In 1992, Treibitch guided the Dutch mens national team to a silver medal at the Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona and in 1984, he helped lead the United States womens national team to a silver medal at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

In addition to his coaching experience, Treibitch is a respected official, having refereed over 250 international matches. He has served as the head official at the U.S. Olympic Festival in Los Angeles in 1991 and as the head official at the World Military Championship in San Diego, in 1994.
