Dang, Kurasaki, And Tassone Lead The Way To A Record Tying 25th Victory On Senior Day

JAMAICA, N.Y. - Seniors Rosalyn Dang (Honolulu, Hawaii), Robyn Kurasaki (Milliani, Hawaii) and Angela Tassone (Seaford, N.Y.) led St. John's to a program record tying 25th victory this afternoon during senior day at Alumni Hall in Jamaica, N.Y. The Red Storm defeated Providence, 3-0 (30-24, 30-25, 30-21), improving to 25-8 overall and 6-4 in conference play. The Friars fall to 3-24 on the season.

On the day, Kurasaki dished out 41 assists and added nine digs, while Dang tallied a double-double with 11 kills on 20 attempts for a .450 hitting percentage and 10 digs. Tassone was a threat on the outside recording seven kills, three assists, six digs and one service ace. The trio was honored during a pre-game ceremony and left the court late in the third game to a standing ovation from the crowd as the day belonged to them.

Also for St. John's, junior Yana Ruban (Kiev, Ukraine) tallied 11 kills on 15 attempts for a .600 hitting percentage, while junior Allison Heckl (Corrales, N.M.) added seven kills on 14 attempts for .357 hitting percentage. Sophomore Jackie Ahlers (Stony Point, N.Y.), who has honored before the game for breaking the school and conference single season kills recorded, totaled 10 kills and three block assists.

The Red Storm return to action on Saturday, November 15 when they travel to Villanova to take on the Wildcats in an important BIG EAST match. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
