As a Freshman (2007): Played 38 games in 27 matches ... registered one dig and one assist in her collegiate debut vs. Loyola Marymount (Aug. 24, 2007) ... recorded her first point with a service ace vs. West Virginia (Sept. 30) ... had first multi-dig match with two digs vs. Colgate (Sept. 8) ... recorded back-to-back multi-dig matches at UConn (Oct. 19) and vs. DePaul (Oct. 26) ... had one service ace vs. USC in the NCAA Regional Semifinals (Dec. 7).
At Roosevelt: Lettered four years in volleyball as an outside hitter and defensive specialist ... captained her team in 2005 ... led them to an OIA second place finish and third place in Hawaii State Tournament ... member of the 2006 OIA championship squad, which also placed fourth in the state tournament ... named to the 2006 OIA Division I Honorable Mention team ... also lettered in swimming.
Off The Court
Motoyama says making it to the NCAA Regional Semifinals and being one of only two Hawaiian players to make it that far (along with teammate Lena Yee) was the most thrilling moment of 2007. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, photography and going to the beach. She is an active member of the St. John's Campus Ministry. Motoyama's favorite book is "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini and her favorite movie is "Forrest Gump."
