As a Junior (2006):
Played in 31 of 36 contests ... finished sixth on the
squad in digs (200) ... compiled three double-doubles
in her first season with the Red Storm ... posted a
career-high 18 digs against Fairfield (Aug. 26) ...
registered a career-high 13 kills against Buffalo (Sept.
15) ... dished out a career-high four assists against
Binghamton (Sept. 16).
At Long Island University:
Transferred to St. John's from Long Island University
in Brooklyn ... as a sophomore was named to the first
team All-NEC ... became the school's single-season
digs leader with 587, ending the year third in the
conference ... is third on the all-time career kills list
with 814 ... posted 24 double-doubles, including
streaks of eight straight and seven straight ... helped
the Blackbirds claim their first tournament crown in
2004 ... also received NEC Player of the Week honors
... named NEC Rookie of the Year as a freshman and
to the second team all-conference ... finished 13th in
the country in aces with 0.63 per game ... recorded 12
double-doubles and posted double digit kills 17 times.
At Ostrovski:
Competed for Israel's national team from 2000-03 ...
guided the team to a third-place finish at the 2002
European Championships as a libero ... led Ostrovski
to a first-place finish for her high school league in
2001.
Off The Court
DeMayo, a speech pathology major, received BIG EAST
Academic All-Star honors for the 2006-07 academic
year. She lists sitting in the Media Room, waiting for
St. John's to be called for the NCAA Tournament as
her most memorable moment from last season. Off
the court, DeMayo enjoys going to the beach with
friends, reading, ceramics, painting, and being active in
the community. She has helped out with the American
Cancer Society's Relay for Life, and made Midnight
Runs, to bring food to the homeless of New York City.
