As a Freshman (2007): Played in 19 games in 12 matches ... tallied three multi-dig matches ... ranked third on the team with 0.68 blocks per game ... missed the last three matches after suffering a season-ending knee injury ... recorded five kills on seven attempts (.714) to go along with six total blocks and two digs in her collegiate debut for St. John's vs. NJIT (Aug. 31) ... registered a season-high three digs vs. Virginia Commonwealth (Sept. 7) ... racked up two kills on three attempts and added one dig at Rutgers (Oct. 14).

At Paratine Cosma Economic: Earned four letters in volleyball ... served as the team's captain in 2006 and 2007 ... graduated with honors ... played on the Romanian Junior National Team from 2003-07.

Off the Court
Banya, a marketing major, lists being selected to play for the Romanian Junior National Volleyball team as her career highlight thus far. She lists her sister, who also played volleyball and is responsible for introducing her to the sport, as the most influential person in her career. When away from the court, Banya enjoys driving, drawing, listening to music and hanging out with friends. She lists "The Tyra Banks Show" as her favorite TV show and is a big fan of actress Angelina Jolie.
