Coach Hayes Named to USA Indoor World Championship Staff

JAMAICA, N.Y. -- Constancia Simpson Hayes, who is in her fourth season as assistant men's and women's track and field coach at St. John's University, was selected to attend the Eighth International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) Indoor World Championships in Athletics. Hayes was named assistant women's track and field coach of the 2001 USA Indoor World Championship team. The championships will be held from March 9-11 in Lisbon, Portugal.

This is the second world championship experience for Hayes, who served as the assistant manager at the 1999 First Youth Athletics Outdoor World Championships, in Bydgosh, Poland.

Coach Hayes will depart on Thursday, March 1, for the USA Track and Field Indoor Track and Field Championships in Atlanta, Ga. There she will assist in the selection of the women's 2001 world championship team. The top two finishers at the USATF Indoor Championships who achieve the qualifying standard and meet all other USATF eligibility requirements will automatically be named to the 2001 IAAF World Indoor Championships Team. She will return from the Championships on March 12.
