QUEENS, N.Y. - Red Storm track & field senior Dominique Eason was ready to compete Saturday, Dec. 1, when she took home first place in the women's weight throw competition at the Manhattan College season opener in Riverdale, N.Y. Eason topped six other athletes with a BIG EAST qualifying throw of 15.66 meters. Placing second in the event was walk-on freshman Rachel Williams in her first event for St. John's with a throw of 12.90 meters. Freshman Courtney Kolinsky also competed in her first collegiate meet, finishing seventh with a distance of 7.68 meters. Williams earned her second second place throw of the outing with a distance of 11.23 meters in the shot put. Kolinsky finished fifth with a throw of 8.02 meters. Also competing in the season opener for St. John's was junior Brianna Drexler. Drexler has set out to become the first Red Storm pole vaulter in program history. She did not clear the opening height this weekend, but is ready to go at it again at next weekend's Fordham opener. The Red Storm will officially open the season Friday, Dec. 7 at the Fordham Opener. The meet starts at 3 p.m. at Fordham University in Bronx, N.Y. St. John's will be bringing its full team to the meet.
