Piscataway, N.J.-The St. John's University track and field team competed in the final day of the BIG EAST Championships this afternoon at the Bauer Track and Field Complex on the campus of Rutgers University. The Red Storm finished in 13th place with a total of 31 points. The Red Storm was led by senior Shernette Davis who placed second in the 100m and 200m, finishing with times of 11.71 and 23.87. Davis has already qualified for the NCAA Regionals in the 100m and 200m earlier in the season. In the 4x100m relay championship, Davis along with Judy Williams, Denise Raab and Vanessa Sessa placed sixth overall with an ECAC qualifying time of 47.52. Junior thrower Blessing Egwu placed sixth in the hammer throw and also qualified for the NCAA Regionals in the event at 54.41m. The NCAA Regionals will be held at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla. on May 28-29, 2004. The Red Storm returns to action this Saturday when they will host the SJU Collegiate Classic at DaSilva Memorial Field in Jamaica, N.Y.
