St. John's Competes in First Day of Metropolitan Championships

April 15, 2005, Piscataway, NJ - Several members of the St. John's women's track and field team competed in the first day of the 2005 Metropolitan Championships this afternoon at Rutgers University. St. John's will host the second day of events tomorrow at DaSilva Memorial Field in Queens, NY. First event is set for 10 a.m.

Blessing Egwu took first place in the hammer throw with an outstanding distance of 175-11. Tetee Kuyateh placed fourth also in the hammer throw at 164-10. Judy Owens and Dominique Eason also threw in this event, with distances of 138-1 and 126-5, respectively.

In the discus, senior Liz Aube placed fifth with a distance of 127-4. Owens (125-7) and Kuyateh also placed within the top 10 at 125-5.
