JAMAICA, N.Y. -- St. Johns University Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Edward J. Manetta today announced the appointment of Greg Bolitsky as head coach for the womens tennis team. Bolitsky, named Red Storm head mens tennis coach in July, will take over the womens tennis duties effective immediately.
Bolitsky serves as the Director of the Junior Tournament Training Program at Cunningham Tennis Center in Queens, in addition to his responsibilities at St. John's. Prior to his arrival at St. John's, Bolitsky served as the Director of the New York Junior Tennis League for two years (1994-96), spent three years as a Senior Coach at Port Washington Tennis Academy (1991-94) and, from 1989 to 1991, was a coach for the Ontario Racquet Academy in his native Canada. Bolitsky, a 1988 graduate of Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, is a USTA Zonal Coach, a USPTR Professional, a USTA Area Training Coach and is USTA Level 1 Sports Science Certified. Following his graduation, he played two years on the USTA Satellite Circuit and one year on the Canadian Satellite Circuit. Off the court, Bolitsky is president of the Kids for Cures Foundation, a group which organizes fundraising events for New York City-area children. In addition, he is the founder and chairman of the CAN-AM Cup Junior Tennis Championships, a national level junior tennis competition pitting the top players from the United States and Canada.
