Jamaica, N. Y.- The St. Johns womens tennis team continues its fall season with a pair of matches at home this weekend against Manhattan College on Friday, October 11 at 3 p.m. and again on Saturday, October 12, against UMass beginning at noon.
Leading the way for St. Johns has been senior Nataliya Kostova (Sophia, Bulgaria) who at No. 1 singles has compiled a 7-1 record in the fall. Sophomore transfer Kristina Bothova (Bratslavia, Slovakia) has been unstoppable from the No. 2 singles spot, posting a 5-1 record. Kostova and Bothova have also teamed up for a formidable doubles team having gone 2-1 to start the fall season. In her second season at the helm, head coach Kyle Copeland has turned around the womens tennis program here at St. Johns. She guided the team to 4-10 record last season, bettering their win total from the previous season. This fall the women have shown marked improvement by going 3-0 in their first matches of the season.
