Jamaica, N.Y. - The St. Johns women tennis team hosted the University of Connecticut this afternoon at Alley Pond Park, located in Flushing, N.Y., losing the match 4-2. The loss drops the Red Storms overall record to 3-5 and 2-4 in BIG EAST play.
For St. Johns, senior Nataliya Kostova (Sophia, Bulgaria) played well in No. 1 singles, beating Trinell Russell 6-3, 6-2 for the straight set victory. Freshman Lauren Lorenzetti (Northfield, N.J.) also picked up a win in the No. 4 singles slot, soundly beating April Dixon 7-5, 6-0.
Due to inclement weather, St. Johns match, slated for tomorrow at Villanova, has been postponed.
The St. Johns womens tennis team returns to action on Friday, April 11 when they travel to West Point, where they will square off against Army, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
