SJU Womens Tennis loses to Princeton

Princeton, NJ- St. Johns University womens tennis team lost a hard game to Princeton University last Friday.

In double action, At No. 1 doubles sophomore Nataliya Kostova (Bulgaria/Bethune) and freshman Tessa Lewis (Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada) played a great game against Bhargava and Krishnamurthy but lost 8-4.

At No. 2 doubles, senior Corina Cetateanu (Forest Hills, N.Y.) and senior Vera Efstathiou (Whitestone, N.Y.) were defeated by Princetons Bhupathi and Watson, 8-1.

At No. 3 doubles, freshman Jennifer Liantonio (West Hempstead) and sophomore Olga Romanidis (Kew Gardens) were beaten by Berg and Kobishyn, 8-1.

Sophomore and No. 1 singles, Kostova lost to Krishnamurthy 6-4, 6-2. At. No. 2 singles, Efstathiou fell short to Watson 6-0, 6-0. At. No.3 singles, Lewis lost to Berg 6-0, 6-0. At. No. 4 singles Cetateano, lost to McCoy 6-1, 6-3. At. No. 4 singles, Romanidis lost to Carlin 6-0, 6-2. At. No. 5 singles and a senior, Carolina Miccolis (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)652 lost to Roberts 6-0, 6-2.

St. Johns returns to action on March 24, 2002 at Alley Pond tennis Complex at 12:00pm, when they take on Fairfield University.
