Women's Tennis Closes Out Regular Season with 7-0 Win at Villanova

Villanova, PA - The St. John's women's tennis team improved its winning streak to nine matches with a 7-0 win at Villanova in the final match of the regular season at Villanova. The Red Storm head to the BIG EAST Tournament as the No. 4 seed and are 10-4 overall.

Allison Davidson, who won her No. 5 match, 6-2, 6-1, finishes the regular season unbeaten, with a 14-0 singles record.

St. John's once again earned the doubles point, winning matches at the No. 2 and No. 3 slots.

In addition to Davidson's win at No. 5, the Red Storm went on to win the remaining five singles matches to finish the perfect match, starting with a close 6-3, 4-6 (10-8) win by Barbora Blahutiakova at No. 1. Kristina Bothova kicked off what would be five consecutive straight-set wins with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 2. Lauren Leo added a 6-3, 6-1 decision at the No. 3 position while Hande Gorur and Mariana Chachua swept their respective matches (6-0,6-0) at the No. 4 and No. 6 spots, respectively.

St. John's will face No. 5 West Virginia in the opening round of the BIG EAST Tournament in Tampa, FL on Thursday at 9:00 am. The winner of that match will draw No. 1 seeded Notre Dame on Friday.
