AKRON, OHIO - The St. John's women's tennis team finished a stretch of three matches in three days with a victory over Akron this morning, 5-2. St. John's improves to 5-1 overall on the season with the win and 2-1 over the three-day stretch. St. John's swept all three doubles matches to take the early one point lead. In singles play, the Red Storm won the No. 2 through 5 positions to wrap up the 5-2 win. At No. 2 singles, junior Allison Davidson (Cedar Falls, Iowa) downed Diana Serafini, 6-2, 6-1, while sophomore Lauren Leo (Staten Island, N.Y.) still remained unbeaten in singles play with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Jenna Larson. At No. 4, junior Hande Gorur (Istanbul, Turkey) won in straight sets 6-2, 7-5 and sophomore Lauren Lorenzetti (Northfield, N.J.) won at No. 5 over Stephanie Mills 6-1, 6-4.
The Red Storm return to the courts on Friday, March 5 when go back on the road to take on Princeton at 3 p.m.
