PITTSBURGH, PA. - Junior Jennifer Liantonio (West Hempstead, N.Y.) downed Duquesne's Julie Wagner in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 in the deciding match, as St. John's went on to win 4-3 on Thursday afternoon in a match played on the campus of Duquesne. The Red Storm improve to 4-0 on the season. Earlier in the day, St. John's swept all three doubles matches to take the first point of the match. The Red Storm followed with victories by junior Kristina Bothova (Bratislava, Slovakia) at No. 2 singles and sophomore Lauren Leo (Staten Island, N.Y.) at No. 4, putting Liantonio in the decisive match. Bothova won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2 over Allina Kinova, while Leo downed Alicia McNamara 6-1, 6-1. Both Bothova and Leo remain undefeated in singles play on the season, posting 4-0 records.
The Red Storm return to the courts tomorrow when they travel to Morgantown, W.Va. to take on West Virginia in a match to start at 11 a.m.
