QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's women's tennis team fell to the Army Black Knights, 6-1, Tuesday night at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center on the campus of the United States Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. The loss dropped the Red Storm to 3-7 on the season (1-2 BIG EAST), while Army improved to 16-4. The Red Storm took an early 1-0 lead in the match, winning the doubles point with victories at Nos. 2 and 3. The wins by the teams of freshman Emily Barnett/senior Ashley Harper and senior Mariana Chachua/freshman Jenny Yonkus earned the lone point for St. John's. The Black Knights controlled the singles competition, however, taking each spot in straight sets, on their way to the 6-1 victory. Up next, the women's tennis team will travel to Happy Valley this weekend for a pair of non-conference matchups. The Red Storm will take on the Temple Owls on Saturday at Noon, before squaring off against the Nittany Lions of Penn State on Sunday at Noon.
