Queens, NY - The St. John' s women's tennis team dominated today's BIG EAST match over Georgetown, snapping a three-match losing streak with a 6-1 victory. The Red Storm improve to 1-1 against conference opponents this spring. The No. 2 doubles pair of Allison Davidson and Hande Gorur clinched the first point of the match for the Red Storm, winning 9-7 in a tie-breaker over Liddy Bartell and Adriann Gin. Lauren Leo and Mariana Chachua topped Liz Winokur and Steph Cohen 8-6 in a come-from behind win at No. 1, while Kristina Bothova and Lauren Lorenzetti won 8-1 over Kristin Dew and Sana Malouf, their third victory in as many matches, to complete the sweep of doubles action. St. John's dominance continued through the singles portion of the match, where the Red Storm dropped only one match, when Leo was forced to retire win an injury. Barbora Blahutiakova took the No. 1 match 7-5, 6-1 over Winokur and Bothova topped Cohen 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 for the 3-0 St. John's advantage. The Red Storm closed out the match with Davidson winning 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4, Chachua winning an easy 6-0, 6-0 sweep in her first singles match with the Red Storm (No. 5) and Lorenzetti closed out the impressive day for the Red Storm with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6. St. John's will return to the courts on Friday, February 25 at Columbia.
