St. Johns Shutout by the Huskies, 6-0
 

 
JAMAICA, N.Y.  St. Johns womens soccer team was defeated by the Connecticut Huskies, 6-0 tonight at DaSilva Memorial Field. With tonights win the Huskies are 5-0 in the conference and have secured the number one seed in the Northeast Division for the BIG EAST Tournament. The Red Storm falls to 8-6 overall and 1-3 in the BIG EAST.

Red Storm killer Jen Carlson scored the game winner unassisted for UConn at 23:09 off a direct kick from 15 yards out. Carlson scored a hat trick last season during St. Johns 5-1 loss. Connecticut scored two goals 34 seconds apart for a 3-0 lead at the half.

To open up the second half, Shelby Brownfield scored her first collegiate goal with an assist from Mary-Frances Monroe for a 4-0 lead. Jen Laccone assisted on the final two goals of the night, giving UConn a 6-0 victory.

The Red Storm was outshot seven to 14. Sophomore goalkeeper Tina Fogg (Warwick, R.I./Warwick Veterans Memorial) made five saves during her 90 minutes of action.

The Red Storm returns to action on Wednesday, October 11 vs. Monmouth at 4 p.m. in Long Branch, N.J.
