St. John's Women's Soccer Players Honored By Soccer Buzz

NEW YORK, N.Y. - St. John's women's soccer players, Courtney Rett (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and Kaitlin Schmidt (Centereach, N.Y.) have been named to Soccer Buzz' Northeast Region Second Team, it was announced today by the online magazine.

Rett, a senior defender, earns her second post-season award this season, after earning All-BIG EAST Second Team honors last month. Rett receives the Soccer Buzz award for the second straight season, after proving herself to be one of the top defenders in the region. She started all 19 games for St. John's this year, leading the Red Storm defense to five shutout wins, including a 1-0 defeat of #20 Boston College on October 12.

Schmidt, who earned three honors from Soccer Buzz last season, including Freshman All-America Second Team honors, earns a spot on the Northeast Region Second Team this year. The sophomore forward led St. John's with 21 points this season, scoring five goals and finished second in the BIG EAST with 11 assists. She was recently named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America District I First Team and was named to the 2003 All-BIG EAST Second Team.
