St. John's Women's Soccer Falls On The Road To Marquette, 1-0

MILWAUKEE - Marquette forward Christy Zwolski scored a goal in the 51st minute to lead the Golden Eagles past St. John's, 1-0, Friday in BIG EAST women's soccer action. Rebecca Capinera posted seven saves in goal for St. John's, which fell to 8-3-2 on the year and 3-3-0 in the league.

With the win, Marquette improved to 11-2-1 overall, 4-2-0 in the BIG EAST. Zwolski's header, her fifth goal of the year, came off assists by Michelle Compty and Katie Kelly.

The Golden Eagles held a 14-4 advantage in shots and had three corner kicks compared to the Red Storm's two.

Sophomore forward Kelly McConnell led the Red Storm offensively with two shots, one on goal, while Nicole Pasciolla and Vaila Barsley had St. John's other scoring opportunities.

St. John's continues its weekend road swing with a Sunday game at South Florida. Kick-off is 1 p.m.
