Sanders Wins Programs First Ever Individual Title

Piscataway, N.J.St. Johns sophomore womens golfer Jaclyn Sanders (Brights Grove, Ontario, Canada), carded a final round four-over par 76, to earn individual medallist honors at the Rutgers Invitational played on the Rutgers University Golf Course. Sanders finished the 36-hole tournament at nine-over par 153, three shots better than Rutgerss Jeannine Mondesando. The victory will carve Sanderss name into the record books, as the winner of the first individual title in St. Johns womens golf history.

The Red Storm team entered the final round in second place but dropped one position after firing a final round, 330. St. Johns finished the tournament with a score of 661; two-strokes behind champion Georgetown and one-stroke behind second place Boston College.

Freshman Christin Thomson (Ft. Francis, Ontario, Canada) earned her second top-10 of the season, finishing tied for ninth place, shooting an 18-over par 163. Freshman Tracey Bolger (Haddonfield, N.J.) finished tied for 38th, carding a 28-over par 172, while sophomore Jennifer Rhee (Rydal, Pa.) and freshman Katie Lebel (Mooretown, Ontario, Canada) finished tied for 47th and 52nd, respectively.

The Red Storm womens golf team concludes their fall schedule on October 25-27 when they travel to Reston, Va. to play in the Georgetown Hoya Classic.
