May 26, 2005 Queens, NY - Three St. John's University female student-athletes have received ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I University Division Women's At Large Team, it was announced today. Erszebet Garay from the women's fencing team and Jaclyn Sanders of the women's golf team were both named to the First Team, while women's tennis' Allison Davidson received Second Team honors, as voted on by CoSIDA. Garay put forth one of the most spectacular performances a the 2005 NCAA Championships, dropping only two bouts during the two-day competition. She finished fourth place overall in the foil competition at the NCAA Championships after posting an impressive 20-1 record in the regular season. A sophomore finance major, Garay boasts a 3.91 GPA. Sanders was one of the Red Storm's top golfers this season, leading St. John's to five tournament championships, including the 2005 BIG EAST Championship. At the BIG EAST Tournament, Sanders shot an 81, good for fourth place a spot on the All-Conference team. She is a senior sports management major with a 3.99 GPA. Davidson earned second team honors after posting a 3.92 GPA in the classroom as a journalism major. On the court, Davidson went undefeated in regular season play, posting a perfect 13-0 record in singles action. At the BIG EAST Tournament, Davidson picked up a win a the No. 5 singles spot, helping St. John's to a third place finish.
