May 5, 2004 Queens, N.Y. - St. John's Director of Golf Frank Darby has announced the signing of two student-athletes for the upcoming 2004-05 season. Brittany Lamberston (Northport, N.Y.) and Keegan Bradley (Hopkinton, Mass.) have signed letters of intent to attend St. John's University and play for the men and women's golf team this Fall. Lambertson was the 2003 Long Island champion and two-time Nassau County champion at Northport High School. She is not only an excellent athlete but she also excels in the classroom, being selected to the national honor society and the Who's Who of High School Students. " Brittany is the type of student that every coach looks for- an outstanding player and student," Darby said of Lambertson, " She puts an unbelievable amount of passion into everything she does. I am thrilled to have a great person like Brittany on our squad." Keegan won the 2003-04 Massachusetts High School individual championship en route to being named Massachusetts High School Player of the Year. He was also a member of the 2003-04 Massachusetts High School team champion at Hopkinton High School. Like Brittany, Keegan also excels in the classroom. He is a Boston Globe All Scholastic team member. He is also a four-time Vermont junior amateur champion and has compiled 15 top-seven finishes on the AJGA junior tour. Keegan's success on the course runs in the family, as he is the nephew of LPGA Hall of Famer Pat Bradley. "Keegan will step right in and play a major role in St. John's golf this fall," Darby said. " His great work ethic and enthusiastic attitude will help our team chemistry tremendously. I am looking forward to seeing him in action."
With the addition of these two outstanding student-athletes the 2004-05 golf season's looks to be an exciting one. The women's team looks to build on a great season in which they capture their first-ever school tournament title The men had a strong season, posting eight top-10 finishes and reaching the BIG EAST tournament.
