St. John's Women's Golf Finishes Sixth at Season Opening Northwood Intercollegiate

West Palm Beach, Fla. The St. Johns womens golf team finished sixth at the season opening Northwood Intercollegiate played at West Palm Beach C.C. in West Palm Beach, Fla. The Red Storm carded a two-round score of 680, three strokes behind fifth place Embry-Riddle and four strokes behind fourth place Boston College. Barry University won the team championship led by individual medallist Noel Bishop.

St. Johns freshman Christin Thomson (Ft. Francis, Ontario, Canada) earned her first career top-five finish, tying for fifth place at 18-over par 162. Sophomore Jaclyn Sanders (Brights Grove, Ontario, Canada) finished tied for 10th place, her second career top-10, carding a 26-over par 170.

Freshman Maggie Steciuk (Londo, Ontario, Canada), playing in her first collegiate event, shot a 28-over par 172 to finish tied for 23rd, while freshmen Katie Lebel (Mooretown, Ontario, Canada), 33-over par 177, and Jennifer Rhee (Rydal, Pa.), 37-over par 181, finished tied for 35th and 45th, respectively.

The St. Johns womens golf team returns to action on March 22-23 when they travel to Reston, Va. to tee off in the Georgetown Invitational.
