Red Storm Women's Golf Second After First Round at Rutgers Invitational

Piscataway, N.J. - The St. John's women's golf team is currently in second place after the first round of play at the Rutgers Invitational, hosted by Rutgers University in Piscataway, N.J. The Red Storm carded an opening round 22-over par 310, trailing only Boston College. Rutgers, Harvard and Georgetown round out the top-five.

Individually, juniors Christin Thomson (Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada) and Jaclyn Sanders (Brights Grove, Ontario, Canada) are both within striking distance of the leaders. Thomson shot an opening round two-over par 74, placing her in third place, five shots off the pace. Sanders is right behind her teammate at three-over par 75, putting her in a three-way tie for fourth.

Sophomore Maggie Steciuk (London, Ontario, Canada) is tied for 10th at six-over par 78, while sophomore Jennifer Rhee (Rydel, Pa.) is tied for 30th at 11-over par 83. Sophomore Katie Lebel (Mooretown, Ontario, Canada) is tied for 70th at 22-over par 94.

The womens golf team returns to the course tomorrow, Saturday, October 18 for the final round of the Rutgers Invitational.
