Red Storm Women's Golf Finishes Fifth at Yale Invitational

New Haven, Conn. - The St. John's women's golf team finished fifth at the Yale Invitational, hosted this past weekend by Yale University in New Haven, Conn. The Red Storm carded a two round team score of 648, finishing behind Princeton, Yale, Rollins and Boston College.

St. John's was lead by junior Jaclyn Sanders (Brights Grove, Ontario, Canada), who took a share of the lead in to the final round after carding an opening round three-over par 73. Sanders closed out the event with an 11-over par 81, finishing in a three-way tie for seventh place at 14-over par 154.

Junior Christin Thomson (Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada) and sophomore Maggie Steciuk (London, Ontario, Canada) posted top-20 finishes for St. John's. Steciuk shot a 21-over par 161 to finish in a tie for 18th, while Thomson finished tied for 20th at 22-over par 162. Sophomores Jennifer Rhee (Rydel, Pa.) and Katie Lebel (Mooretown, Ontario, Canada) finished in 40th and 61st place, respectively.

The women's golf team returns to the course on October 11-12 for the ECAC Championships to be held in Albany, N.Y.
