Hanover, N.H. - The St. John's women's golf team opened its 2003 fall season with a third place finish at the Dartmouth Invitational, hosted this past weekend by Dartmouth University at Hanover C.C. in Hanover, N.H. The Red Storm carded a two round team score of 641, finishing behind Princeton and Boston College.
St. John's was lead by junior Jaclyn Sanders (Brights Grove, Ontario, Canada), who carded a four-over par 148 to finish in third place. The finish is Sanders' second career top-five finish. Head women's coach Cindy Mueller, coaching her first collegiate event at St. John's, had nothing but praise for Sanders. "Jaclyn had a terrific tournament and I couldn't be more proud of the way she and the team played."
Junior Christin Thomson (Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada) finished tied for 10th, shooting a 14 -over par 158. Sophomore Katie Lebel (Mooretown, Ontario, Canada) finished third on the team and 35th overall, carding a 25-over par 167. Sophomore Maggie Steciuk (London, Ontario, Canada) and Jennifer Rhee (Rydel, Pa.) rounded out the St. John's team, tying for 49th place, with a 29-over par 171.
The women's golf team returns to the course on September 27-28 at Springdale Golf Course in Princeton, N.J. for the Princeton Invitational.
