Jamaica, NY - St. John's sophomore Tynisha Myles (Paterson, NJ/Paterson Catholic) has been selected to the 13-member 2000 BIG EAST Women's Basketball All-Star Team which will compete on a six-game competitive tour of Western Canada from May 26-June 4. Myles was fourth on the team in scoring with 6.3 points per game. She led St. John's with a .483 field goal percentage, and was second on the team with 106 rebounds (3.7 per game) and 13 blocked shots. As a freshman, Myles averaged 7.1 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per game. She is a two-time winner of the Marianne Noonan Memorial Award, which is presented annually to a member of the women's basketball team who best exemplifies the unselfish attitude and team spirit of Marianne Noonan in whose memory the award was established.
This marks the 11th consecutive year that the BIG EAST Conference is sending a women's basketball all-star squad abroad. West Virginia University head coach Alexis Basil will direct the team. The 13-member squad is comprised of one representative from each league school, and features one senior, one junior, five sophomores and six freshmen.
The all-stars will play the top club teams in British Columbia, Canada during their tour, including Simon Fraser All-Stars.
