Hartford, CT - St. John's women's basketball sophomore, Kia Wright, was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team, it was announced this evening at the conference's pre-tournament banquet in Hartford.

Wright led the Red Storm in scoring with 14.9 points per game this season. A rookie to the St. John's squad, she started off her collegiate career with a season-high 33 points, shooting 10-of-14 from the field and 6-of-7 from three-point land. She was named the Most Valuable Player at the St. Bonaventure Shootout after averaging 27 points in the two wins for the Red Storm.

Since that time, Wright has been a consistent leader on the court, shooting 34% from the field and dishing out a team-best 3.7 assists per game.

The Red Storm will open up the 2005 BIG EAST Tournament action on Saturday, March 5. As the No. 8 seed, St. John's will tip-off against No. 9 Seton Hall at 2 pm.
