2005 BIG EAST Tournament Bracket
March 1, 2005 Queens, NY - The St. John's women's basketball team has earned the eighth seed in the BIG EAST Tournament, it was announced this evening by the league. The Red Storm are set to tip-off against No. 9 Seton Hall in the first round of the 2005 BIG EAST Championship Tournament on Saturday, March 5 at 2 pm in Hartford, CT. St. John's concluded the regular season with an 18-9 overall record and a 7-9 mark in BIG EAST action. The Pirates finished 14-13 overall and 6-10 in the conference. St. John's and Seton Hall met two times this season, each school winning on their home court. In their first meeting, St. John's topped the Pirates 61-50 at Carnesecca Arena, but the Pirates took the game played at Walsh Gymnasium, 73-54. The winner of the 8/9 game will play No.1 Rutgers on Sunday at 2 pm. That game will be broadcast on CSTV. Last season as the No. 11 seed, St. John's was eliminated in the first round by No. 6 West Virginia.
