St. John’s men’s tennis head coach Eric Rebhuhn announced Friday the lineup of tennis programs for summer 2007. The camps and clinics will be held in July and August on The Courts at St. John’s University. Boys and girls between the ages of six and 15 are invited to attend the Morning and Afternoon Tennis Camps. These camps will run for six weeks beginning on July 9. The morning sessions will be offered for six to 10 year-olds, while the afternoon sessions are for 11 to 15-year-olds. The camps will focus on technique and consistency in dead ball drills, serving and individual and group strategy during singles and doubles match play. The cost of the camp $350 for the week or $80 per day, and a deposit of $100 is required to secure a space. During the evenings and weekends, Rebhuhn will hold adult tennis clinics Monday through Saturday for beginners through advanced players. Interested participants can sign up for one hour or one and a half hour drill and play classes. The adult tennis clinic costs $25 per session. To sign up for the Evening/Weekend Adult clinics, call 718-990-5549. For children ages five to seven, Rebhuhn will offer the 36/60 Mini Tennis Program, which is a part of the USTA initiative. Participants in the 36/60 Mini Tennis program will focus on physical, mental and emotional skills, while taking part in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. Smaller racquets and foam balls will be provided for each camper.
