West Hartford, Conn. - The St. John's University men's tennis team defeated the University of Hartford, 6-1, this afternoon in West Hartford, Conn. The Red Storm improves to 4-5 on the season.
Erik Scharf (Bronxville, N.Y.) continued his streak of wins in dual matches, defeating Pedja Zdravkovic, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5. Today marked the first time Scharf has dropped a set in dual match play this season. Other members of the Red Storm squad continued their winning streaks too. Brian Scharf (Bronxville, N.Y.) has now captured four consecutive wins and Cameron Lore (Toronto, Canada) has been successful in his last three attempts. St. John's only loss came at No. 2 singles where Jake Maxwell (Glen Cove, N.Y.) fell to Nemanja Bala. Maxwell dropped the first set, 7-5, but rebounded with a 6-1 win in the second set. During the third and final set, Maxwell was defeated 2-6. The Red Storm take on BIG EAST rival, UConn tomorrow at the National Tennis Center.
