Coral Gables, Fl. -The St. John's men's tennis team fell 4-0 to the No. 1 seeded Virginia Tech Hokies in the semifinals of the 2004 BIG EAST tennis championships held at the Neil Schiff Tennis Complex this afternoon. St. John's lost the doubles point, as the No. 2 doubles pair of David Nylen (Orebro, Sweden) and Claudio Halim (Jakarta, Indonesia) fell to Andreas Lauland and Adel Abbas 8-3 and the No. 3 duo of Morgan Bauer (New York, N.Y.) and Todd Goldberg (Ponoma, N.Y.) lost to Angel Diankor and Brent Wilkins, 8-2. In singles, sophomore Nick Stocker (Norwich, England) fell to Stephane Rod, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, while Bauer, at fifth, and Halim, at sixth, dropped their matches in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-3.
The Red Storm will face either No. 2 Notre Dame or No. 3 Miami tomorrow in the third place match of the BIG EAST Championships at 9 a.m.
