Men's Tennis Continues Streak, Beats Georgetown 7-0

Villanova, Pa. - The St. John's men's tennis team continued their exceptional play this afternoon, beating conference foe Georgetown, 7-0. The win marks the eighth-straight for the Red Storm and is the fourth consecutive shutout win for the team, which improves to 10-8 on the season.

Louis Desmarteaux and Aurelio Di Zazzo won 8-4 at No. 1 and Morgan Bauer and Todd Goldberg edged their opponents 9-7 in the No. 3 spot, as the Red Storm took the doubles point for the early 1-0 lead.

Desmarteaux battled to a 6-3, 7-5 win in the No. 1 singles spot, putting St. John's up 2-0. David Nylen picked up a convincing 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 2 before Di Zazzo's 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3 clinched the match for St. John's. Nick Stocker continued the streak for the Red Storm, who did not drop a set in singles play, with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 4, before Bauer won an easy 6-0, 6-1 match at No. 5. Claudio Holim closed out singles action with a 6-2, 6-3 win in the final match

The Red Storm return home tomorrow, Sunday, April 18 to host Manhattan and Villanova at St. John's Courts.
