Queens, NY - After getting swept against Georgetown (4-3) and Rutgers (5-2) on Saturday, the St. John's University men's tennis team responded to beat Villanova, 6-1 on Sunday wrap up their weekend of BIG EAST tennis action. The Red Storm is now 3-11 overall and 1-2 in league play. On Saturday, St. John's dropped the first contest, 4-3 to Georgetown, having lost the doubles point, before splitting the six singles matches. The Red Storm followed with another tough loss, this time to Rutgers, 5-2. St. John's snapped their four match losing streak on Sunday, as they took the doubles point and five of the six singles matches for the 6-1 victory. For the weekend, both juniors David Nylen (Orebro, Sweden) and Morgan Bauer (New York, NY) won all three of their singles matches, as Nylen failed to lose a set. In doubles action, the duo of junior Nick Stocker (Norwich, England) and sophomore Claudio Halim (Jakarta, Indonesia) swept through their matches. The Red Storm return to the courts on Friday, April 15, when they travel to Chestnut Hill, MA to take on the Boston College Eagles at 3 pm.
