Red Storm Men's Tennis Drops a Pair on Spring Break Trip

Queens, NY - The St. John's University men's tennis team continued their spring trip down south, as they dropped a pair of matches this week. On Tuesday, the Red Storm lost at Louisiana-Lafayette, 6-1 and came back to lose at Alabama-Birmingham, 5-2 on Wednesday.

At UL-Lafayette, the Red Storm picked up with lone point at No. 2 singles, where junior David Nylen (Orebro, Sweden) won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.

On Wednesday, the Red Storm dropped the doubles point and were only able to pull out two singles matches as they fell 5-2. Picking up singles points for St. John's were sophomore Louis Desmarteaux (Thornhill, Ontario) at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 over Sebastian Falk and at No. 6, Claudio Halim (Jakarta, Indonesia), who knocked off Johannes Spangenberg, 6-2, 7-6.

St. John's returns to the courts on Saturday, March 5, when they travel to Hattesburg, MS to take on Southern Miss at noon and Samford at 3 pm.
