Position:
Graduate Assistant

Alex Friesen enters his first season as the graduate assistant for the St. John's men's tennis team. He is responsible for managing the program's day-to-day operations, as well providing office assistance for head coach Eric Rebhuhn.

Friesen comes to St. John's after finishing his collegiate tennis career at Northern Illinois University as a four-year letter winner. In 2008 Friesen was named to the All-Mid American Conference first team after compiling a singles record of 25-8, which included a dual match record of 14-4 while playing at No. 2 singles. Friesen also compiled a doubles record of 22-6, including a 17-2 mark in dual matches at No. 2 doubles. In his senior year, Friesen also earned two MAC Player of the Week honors, an Academic All-MAC Team Award and claimed the MAC's Jack Vredevelt Sportsmanship Award.

The London, Ontario, native most recently worked in public accounting over the summer in his hometown. Since arriving in New York in August 2008, Friesen has taught both private and group lessons to both high level and recreational players.

Friesen graduated from NIU in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in accounting and is currently pursuing a master's degree in accounting.
