JAMAICA, N.Y. -- The 10th-ranked St. Johns University mens soccer team will play at James Madison on Saturday, November 18 in first round action of the NCAA Mens Soccer Tournament.

This is the ninth-straight NCAA Tournament bid for the Red Storm, who finished the regular season 13-4-2 and 8-2-1 in the BIG EAST. The winner of the SJU-JMU match will advance to play the winner of a match between Lehigh and fifth-seeded Virginia on November 25 or 26.

This weekends meeting will be the first ever between St. Johns and James Madison. The teams did share two common opponents, both having played St. Louis and American. James Madison beat St. Louis Louis, 2-1, in the first round of the Vanderbilt/Puma Classic, and posted a 1-0 overtime win against American. St. Johns and American played to a 1-1 double overtime draw in the first round of the Phillips/adidas Classic, while the Red Storm dropped a 1-0 double overtime decision to St. Louis.

St. Johns was led this season by first-team All-BIG EAST selection Shalrie Joseph (Brooklyn, N.Y.), who led the team with 13 goals and two assists for 28 points. Josephs 13 goals are tied for sixth-best in a season in school history.

The Red Storm defense, one of the best in the country during the last 10 years, allowed only 12 goals this season and was led by first-team All-BIG EAST selection Omar Chavez (New Rochelle, N.Y.). Chavez led a unit that posted 10 shutouts this season, among the top-10 records in school history.

Senior goalkeeper Jeffrey Stoklosa (Newark, Del.) posted a 0.61 goals against average and recorded seven shutouts this season, finishing the regular season with an 8-3-2 record.
