    On Sunday, November 11 at 1 p.m., the Red Storm will play the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Tournament. St. John's enters the tournament as the third seed in the Red Division, while Notre Dame is the second seed in the Blue Division.

    Scouting the Fighting Irish

  • Sunday will mark the 16th meeting between the Fighting Irish and the Red Storm. St. John's leads the all-time series 10-2-3. The two teams, however, have not played each other since November 5, 2005. The Red Storm is 5-1-1 in the past seven meetings and 1-1-2 all-time in games played at Notre Dame.
  • On offense Joseph Lapira has a team high 20 points. Lapira has six goals and a team best eight assists. Ryan Miller has six goals and 15 points, while Justin Morrow has three goals.
  • Chris Cahill has a 0.77 GAA and a .822 save percentage in goal for Notre Dame. He has seven shutouts and a 9-2-5 record.
  • Notre Dame has outshot opponents 306-212 this season and outscored the opposition 29-16.

  • This is the Red Storm's 17th straight BIG EAST Tournament appearance.
  • The Red Storm reached the quarterfinals after defeating Seton Hall 3-2 in penalty kicks. The two teams were tied at 2-2 after two overtimes.
  • Omar Alfonso and Jeff Stepan each scored their team leading fourth goals in the Seton Hall game.
  • St. John's is currently ranked tenth in the NSCAA/adidas Northeast Regional rankings.
  • Michael Luk, Stepan and Alfonso have a team high nine points. Luk leads the team with five assists.

  • Senior defender Jeff Stepan was named to the Academic All-District First Team by CoSIDA.
  • A 2006 CoSIDA Academic All-American, Stepan will now be added to the Academic All-America ballot for 2007.
