Rich Bradley (Bayport, N.Y.) was selected in the round by the of the 2003 MLS SuperDraft sponsored by addidas. Bradley becomes the third St. Johns player to be drafted by an MLS club in the past two years, joining Red Storm alum
Jeff Mateo and
Shalrie Joseph who were drafted by the Columbus Crew and New England Revolution in 2002.
Bradley earned second team All-BIG EAST and second team NSCAA/addidas New York honors, tallying a team-high seven assists and adding five goals tying a career-high 15 points for the Red Storm in 2002. Bradley started all 21 games his senior season after appearing in just two during an injury plagued junior campaign.
For his career, Bradley total nine goals and 12 assist for a total of 30 points in 43 games. Three of those goals were game winners in 1-0 victories over Virginia Tech (9/14/02), UConn (10/25/02), and Georgetown (9/24/00). Bradley also has BIG EAST defensive player of the week honors for the week of 9/25/00 on an already impressive resume.
