QUEENS, N.Y. - Senior attackman Tom Michaelsen earned his third ECAC honor as officials named him Co-Offensive Player of the Week for his six-point performance against the No. 1 Duke Blue Devils on Sunday.

With his six points, the Bethpage, N.Y., native tied his career-best point effort with three goals and three assists. The scoring effort was his highest of the season and the hat trick was the 11th of his career.

St. John's took the early 2-0 lead against the top-ranked team, as Michaelsen had a hand in both goals. He assisted the first and scored the second.

Michaelsen broke Duke's three-goal rally in the second period as he forced goaltender Dan Loftus into a turnover resulting in a quick goal to cut Duke's lead to two, 6-4, going into halftime. Duke eventually won 16-9.

The senior finished his career with 117 points (71 goals, 46 assists), moving him up to No. 5 on the St. John's all-time leader board. His 46 assists are also fourth-best all-time record for the Red Storm.

He is currently ranked sixth in the league in assists per game (1.18) and 10th in the league in points per game (2.18). Of all NCAA Division I student-athletes, Michaelsen is in the top-50 for assists per game and in the top 100 for points per game.

Also earning ECAC honors this week was sophomore goaltender Gavin Buckley.

Buckley's honor roll accolade was his second ECAC honor this season as he was named Co-Defensive Player of the Week for the week of April 14.

The Owings, Md., native had a tremendous day in the net for St. John's despite the 16-9 loss. In the first half, Buckley stopped 10 Duke shots, to keep the game within two goals going into the halftime break.

After the first period, the teams were tied 3-3 thanks to Buckley's five saves. Buckley tallied 18 saves for the contest, a career-best effort for the sophomore.

The sophomore is eighth in the league in goals against average with 10.33. He is ninth in the conference in save percentage (.497) and saves per game (7.80).
