Queens, NY - Rutgers scored five goals in the fourth period and held off St. John's, 9-6, in an ECAC men's lacrosse match at DaSilva Field Wednesday afternoon.

The Red Storm fall to 2-6 overall and 0-3 in the league with the loss, while Rutgers improves to 3-4.

Rutgers led 4-3 after three periods, but scored three in a four-minute span in the late stages of the fourth to widen the gap en route to the win.

Trailing 1-0 in the first, the Red Storm took a 2-1 lead after goals from Justin O'Donnell and Randy Mills. The Scarlet Knights tied the game at the end of the first and scored the only goal of the second period to take a 3-2 lead at halftime.

O'Donnell scored his second goal of the game early in the third, tying the game, but Rutgers' Nate Sanderson scored one of his four goals on the afternoon to give the visitors a 4-3 lead going into the final frame.

Mike McGuire added two goals and Patrick Zeis added another for St. John's, while Felix Forbes and Graeme Gillespie each had an assist.

The Red Storm return to play on Saturday, hosting Lafayette at DaSilva Field at 1 p.m.
