Jamaica, N.Y.The St. Johns mens and womens golf, like many teams in the Northeast, began their seasons in Sunshine State of Florida because weather conditions are usually to frigid to play locally in February and March. The Red Storm, after long weekend trips on the road, living off of take out, hotels and suitcases, hoped to return to the tri-state area for the comforts of home and spring conditions that where ideal for golf. However, to the teams disappointment an early spring snowstorm has kept them off the course, forcing the cancellation of the Hoftsra Invitational this past week. Both teams look to get back on the course, hoping the weather will cooperate this weekend.

The St. Johns mens golf team returns to action this weekend when they travel across the George Washington Bridge to play in the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Course in Princeton, N.J. The weather is the only thing that has been able to slow down senior All-American candidate Andrew Svoboda (Stamford, Conn.). Svoboda, who earned individual medallist honors in four out of six tournaments during the fall, has picked up right where he left off, winning three consecutive individual titles this spring.

The St. Johns womens golf team returns to action this weekend when they travel to Harrisonburg, Va. to play in the James Madison Classic at Lakeview C.C. The women have been led by sophomore Jaclyn Sanders (Brights Grove, Ontario, Canada), who earned the programs first ever-individual title at the Rutgers Invitational this fall, and freshman Christin Thomson (Ft. Francis, Ontario, Canada). Sanders and Thomson have posted two top-20 finishes in four events this spring.
