Williamsburg, Va.-- St. Johns senior golfer Andrew Svoboda (Stamford, Conn.) is tied for second place at one-over par 72 after the first round of the William & Mary Invitational, hosted by William & Mary at the Kingsmill River G.C. in Williamsburg, Va. Svoboda is tied with four other golfers and is four shots behind leader Bill Hurley of Navy.
The Red Storm are tied for 16th place overall, carding an opening round score of 30-over par 314. Sophomore Ian Middleton (British Columbia, Canada) is tied for 54th at eight-over par 79, while freshman Tom Travalja (Oradell, N.J.) is tied for 69th at 10-over par 81. Seniors Kyle Sleasman (Loudonville, N.Y) and John DeForest (Cottekill, N.Y.) are tied for 75th and 88th, respectively. The St. Johns mens golf completes play at the William & Mary Invitational, teeing off in a final round 18 holes tomorrow.
