Harrisonburg, VA - The St. John's men's golf team finished in 13th place at the James Madison Invitational that was played at Lakeview Golf Club in Harrisonburg, VA. The Red Storm carded a final round five-over par 289, finishing the tournament with a 25-over par 877. Winning the team championship was Towson University, firing a final round eight-under par 276, finishing with a 13-under par 839. Rounding out the top five was Rutgers with a 841, Princeton with a 848, St. Josephs with a 856 and host James Madison with a 860. Winning the individual race was Jeff Castle from Towson who finished the tournament 13-under par 200, five shots ahead of the field. Billy Stewart from St. Josephs in second place at eight-under par 205, after firing a final four-under par 67. The Red Storm was led by freshman Keegan Bradley (Hopkinton, MA) who carded a three round total four-over par 217 to finish tied for 30th place. Junior Brian McArdle (Huntington, N.Y.) finished tied for 36th place, carding a six-over par 219 for the tournament. Senior Ian Middleton (British Columbia, Canada) fired a team low even-par 71 in the final round to finish tied for 50th at nine-over par 222. Sophomore Joe Yastrub (Lake Grove, N.Y.)shots rounds of 77, 71, 79 to finish with a 14-over par 227.
The St. John's men's golf team returns to action on October 18-19 when they will close out their fall season when they host the Tillinghast in Scarsdale, NY at the Fenway Golf Club.
